We want everyone to be able to use catchingnumbers.com, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG is the international standard for accessible websites and the benchmark US courts and the Department of Justice refer to under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What we have done
- Every page and tool works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
- Pages use proper headings, landmarks, labels and page titles so screen readers can navigate them.
- Text and controls meet WCAG color contrast ratios, and links in text are underlined.
- Images have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Form fields have visible labels, optional fields are marked, and errors and results are announced to screen readers.
- Pages can be zoomed to 400% and read on screens as narrow as 320 pixels without scrolling sideways.
- Moving content can be paused, and animations switch off if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Tables have headers, and wide tables can be scrolled with the keyboard.
We do not use accessibility “overlay” widgets. We build accessibility into the site itself and test it with automated checks (axe-core) and manual keyboard and zoom reviews.
Known limitations
- Our free calculators need JavaScript turned on. If you cannot use them, contact us and we will run the numbers with you.
- Some links go to other websites, such as the IRS or state tax departments, which we do not control.
- Documents we send to clients, such as reports and spreadsheets, can be provided in an accessible format on request.
