Xero bookkeeping services for US businesses and startups: bank accounts reconciled, Stripe and Shopify payouts tied to sales, payroll from Gusto or another provider posted correctly, and monthly statements from a CPA-led team. Monthly plans start at $199.
Xero is a strong ledger for small and growing US companies, but many US accounting firms work mainly in QuickBooks. We run Xero books for US startups every month, so you don’t have to switch software to get a firm that knows it well.
What do our Xero bookkeeping services include?
- Bank feeds reconciled in Xero every month, with bank rules cleaned up so they stay accurate
- Stripe, Shopify and PayPal payouts recorded gross, with fees, refunds and chargebacks shown separately
- US payroll from Gusto or another provider posted to Xero and reconciled to the payroll reports
- Tracking categories designed with you (Xero allows two) for departments, products or locations
- Receipts and bills captured through Hubdoc or Dext and matched to transactions
- Contacts set up for year-end 1099 vendor reporting
- A monthly profit and loss and balance sheet, plus a year-end package for your tax CPA
Is Xero a good choice for a US business?
For many small and mid-size US companies, yes. Xero handles bank reconciliation, invoicing, bills and reporting well, and it connects to the apps most startups use. Payroll runs in a separate app, and companies that need deep inventory, many entities or complex revenue schedules sometimes outgrow it. When that happens, we help you move to NetSuite, Sage Intacct or an AI-native ledger and plan the switch around your close.
If you bill or pay in other currencies, we handle foreign currency gains, losses and revaluations, which need multi-currency on Xero’s Established plan.
What does Xero bookkeeping cost?
The same as in any other system. Our Basic plan starts at $199 a month for up to two bank or card accounts and 100 transactions a month, and most startups with payroll and payment processors are on our Launch plan at $599 to $699 a month. For an accrual-basis close with controller review, see month-end close services.
Frequently asked questions
How do you get access to our Xero file?
You invite us as a user in Xero with the adviser role, so you never share your password. You can change or remove our access at any time.
Should we switch from Xero to QuickBooks Online?
Only if something specific is missing. Switching ledgers takes time and breaks your history across two systems, so we keep you in Xero unless a feature you need isn’t there. See our accounting software comparison for how the options differ by stage.
Can you clean up a Xero file that has fallen behind?
Yes. We quote a fixed fee to reconcile the backlog and fix the problem accounts, then keep the file current every month. See cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping.
Do you prepare tax returns?
No. We keep your Xero books tax-ready and hand your tax CPA a complete year-end package.
